Theana has a California Single Subject Credential in English, California Specialist Instruction Credential in Communication Handicapped/DHH, a Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development Certificate to teach English Language Learners, and is a marriage and family therapist, as well as a Certified Auditory-Verbal Educator. After graduating from the John Tracy Clinic/USC Graduate Program, she worked for 16 years as a classroom teacher in grades 2-5 for the Los Angeles Unified School District, and, was an itinerant DHH teacher for the district with DHH students from pre-K through 12th grade for several years. She is now the DHH Specialist at LAUSD. She specializes in motivating children’s language and literacy development through authentic children’s literature. Theana teaches the Distance Learning candidates during their two courses on learners 5-22, including methods of instruction for learners 5-22, and the student teaching experience.
