Position Summary
The Classroom Aide supports the classroom teacher by following instructions for the preparation, execution, and clean-up of daily activities. They assist the teacher and parents as needed and troubleshoot listening devices under the teacher’s supervision. The Aide provides and models spoken language for students in meaningful contexts, participating actively in staff meetings. They also assist with the Friday Family School, which is a center-based parent-infant program. If necessary, the Aide assumes full classroom responsibilities, such as when the teacher is ill or attending a meeting. They provide appropriate language and speech modeling for the children and take full responsibility for nap time. The Aide also participates in International sessions, typically during the summer. Additionally, the Aide helps maintain the inventory of preschool and educational supplies, working alongside the Educational Services administrative assistant.
